Picture hanging in Paddington
Paddington – close to our heart
In 2005 we started this business in Bardon which is next to Paddington in Brisbane, I loved being over the inner & western suburbs for it’s character and art scene. The Substation is an iconic building on the corner of Enogerra and Latrobe Terraces and at the time was occupied by Tom and his now wife Danielle Francis who cleaned up the interior and established a quirky gallery called ‘Kiln’, Tom told me once that it’s name was derived from the building being a sort of Kiln-like incubator for art. We worked with Tom for years to prepare for exhibitions that ran regularly and exhibited some local Brisbane artists and attracted crowds of people. Fun times!
Around the same time we installed along Latrobe Terrace in several of the boutique retail outlets and a couple of Galleries too.
Places to see our work:
Ed Hope Hair is a boutique hairdressers who have our picture rail hanging some art in their salon – 159 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064
Novel Lines Bookshop which is still there today has our system installed throughout the shop, they are located at: 153 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, QLD 4064
Thousand Island Dressing found at 129 Latrobe Terrace which is a homeware furnishings and accessories store use our Victorian hangers to display their art and mirrors
Hands on Art Gallery and Café is now in the Substation building and have been since they took over from Kiln when they moved out, though some of the picture rails staying in the building we were called into help plan out the new layout and added some more, the gallery has some great values to be proud of and does an enormous amount of work in the community.
Places that are missed from Latrobe Terrace:
Baboa Gallery owned by Joan Winter is a specialist in Aboriginal, PNG and Torres Island art, they are no longer at this address but were on the corner of Latrobe Tce and Collingwood Street
Green Tangerine was a beautiful gift shop that used our systems to hang pictures, clocks and other wall hangings
French & English an impressive European inspired classic furniture boutique showroom which used to be across from the highly acclaimed Brett Lethbridge Gallery in Latrobe Terrace but moved to their current location in New Farm at: 27 Doggett Street, New Farm, QLD 4006
